The City IDB undertakes financing and development of projects deemed to promote industry, trade, commerce, tourism and recreation, and housing construction.
The Industrial Development Board of the City of Knoxville (City IDB) performs public functions on behalf of the City of Knoxville as authorized under State law. The City IDB acquires, owns, leases and disposes of properties that promote industry and develop trade by inducing manufacturing, industrial and commercial enterprises to locate within the City of Knoxville.

The City IDB is governed by a nine member Board of Directors, appointed by the Knoxville City Council. The City IDB does not have employees, and administrative and management services for the City IDB are provided by Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation.
